Hi, Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon, Kernel 5.11.0-34-generic, nVidia 470.57.01, Pinta version 1.7, I'm observing a reproducible behavior with Pinta 1.7. Each time I use the Text tool to add text it, the program freezes for about 10-30 secs, during which I can not interact with the program at all. After waiting, entering text is possible but since this happens each time, it is really getting in the way of using this fine piece of software. The image file size doesn't matter, smallest file was ~ 4KB; single layered, no other were effects applied. Thanks in advance for looking into this. Regards warrenpeas

Thank you for your reply.
During my previous searches I came across comments saying that moving to v1.7 may be a solution to some issues, the version which I am currently using, so I am happy to hear that this already has the attention of the developer(s).
I will give this developer build a try during the course of this week and will report back on here.

This sounds like https://bugs.launchpad.net/pinta/+bug/1311873, which was fixed in the GTK3 branch of Pinta - you could try out the builds from https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/releases/tag/dev-preview-builds
