This is a new feature request. Click on Text object and type some text then use right-mouse button and move the typed text to different position. I would like to see the same behavior for Rectangle Select object. So click:

This wish was made years before Move Selection tool got rotation functionality. The main idea was to somehow make it easier to "select and move" operation, something that Microsoft Paint on Windows XP has. But I do understand your point if we make "right click" to change tool from Rectangle Select to Move Selected Pixels we can get into a trap of Move Selected Pixels rotation.
Maybe we should use the middle click for this option instead of right click. But we should probably also add middle click for this option on Text object to to have consistency...

I'm not sure if right-clicking would be a good idea for this, since the Move Selection tool uses the right mouse button for rotation.
